Shaoguan Children's Palace

Introduction

Like all cities in China, Shaoguan has it's own children's palace.  Children Palaces are government owned centres of excellent for (usually gifted) children to participate in various after school activities and tuition.  The origins of Children's Palaces can be traced back to the Soviet Pioneer Movement of the 1930s which spread to other socialist countries. 

Training Options

Children from 4 to 5 years old through to later years are able to undertake a wide array of training at the Children's Palace. Options available include fundamentals of dance, piano, keyboard, guitar, singing, chorus singing, violin, erhu, table tennis, tennis, Go (board game), Chinese chess, taekwondo, latin dance, modern dance, drawing, cartooning, painting, calligraphy, model-making, Chinese, English, mathematics and physics tuition.

Classes are usually held on weekends and weeknights around regular school hours 7 days a week during school semesters, with extended hours during school holidays.

There are also some limited options for adults to choose from such as Yoga.

How to get there

The Shaoguan Children's Palace is located at 237 South Wujiang Road overlooking the river.  As could be expected, it is serviced by many bus routes.   Bus number 16 stops outside the palace.  Bus numbers 3, 5, 13, 15, 18, 19 and 20 all stop at the Xihe bus station, the children's palace is just a short walk towards the river.
